Profit from image hosting – part 1

I’m working on a image hosting project. I’ll will be posting updates on this. People will use image hosting to host their image freely. They can latter use it in forum or free blogging service like blogger.com or wordpress.org.

You can also provide free image hosting and monetize it. First you need a domain name. I choose browsefoto.com as a domain name, because it contains image or foto keyword. The domain name is easy to remember and can have SEO benefit bacause it contains keyword (foto) in the name. I’ve search more than 20 domains name, but they are all unavailable. Finally I found this name, the best I could get.

After having your domain, you are going to need hosting. You need a lot of space and bandwidth, because people will upload their image to your host and access the image from other websites. I suggest you using reseller account, because they provide huge space and bandwidth.

Next you need image upload script. You can find a lot of script at hotscripts.com. For image upload script, you can try this. You can use free script for your image hosting website, but they usually ask you to gave a link back to them. That is OK. Once you have your script, upload it into your hosting using FTP software. I use Filezilla as my FTP software. Install the script using the instruction given by the software maker.

The next article I will explain about marketing the website, and tips on free image hosting.
